(Milan) Our neighborhood feels like it's glowing right now, especially after a loooooong, bitter, cold, grey winter. It's pure magic in Milan during Springtime but who am I kidding, Spring is pretty much magical everywhere.
And speaking of Spring, it has been Spring cleaning week at our house, as we purge all the things we don't need and get ready for our big move at the end of April to Bologna or as I like to say, "Boloney". It's a bittersweet move for me, as I've grown to adore Milan over the past five years and really consider it home now. I also happen to be a creature of habit and don't do well with change all the time. It all depends on the situation, sometimes, I can approach things really fast, spur of the moment kind of way, like ripping off a band aid. But how it usually goes down is that I tend to let the impending change marinate over a long period of time before I embrace it. This, I know about myself. And the move to Bologna, happens to be one of those changes that had to marinate for one long year. Sometimes, I think it's easy if it's the other way, quick and painless, so I don't think about it too much. Like the way A. approaches things in life, he just jumps right in, ready for anything, at any given moment. This is one of many many things I admire about him.
What I keep reminding myself is how GREAT the food in Bologna is and since I'm such a foodie this is my carrot in front of the cart. I can't help but think that I still have so much more to discover here in Milan, like I'm still putting the pieces of the puzzle together and have a few major pieces missing. So, I do hope we have the chance to come back, cause it's especially hard to leave our beautiful, cozy apartment but comforting to know it will always be here waiting for us.
